Chisme Corner is an interactive installation that reimagines the traditional act of taking a smoke break through a playful yet thought-provoking lens. Comprising of polished stainless steel cigarette holders with chains and an accompanying ashtray, the piece invites visitors to consider the interpersonal dynamics and unspoken narratives that often accompany shared moments of pause. Through its sleek design and tactile engagement, Chisme Corner explores themes of connection, communication, and the subtle exchanges that occur within social rituals. This work invites viewers to reflect on the ways in which routine behaviors can serve as platforms for social interaction and communal storytelling, blurring the boundaries between function and form in public and private spaces.

Two points in a sentence signifies emphasis, or to introduce something. It is also used to connect two independent things. The collection is named ‘ : ‘ or Dos Puntos because they are starting a category in tableware that does not exist. Connecting the historic with the futuristic. Dos Puntos is a collection of metalware that highlight the importance of introducing experimental dining pieces in order to promote intentionality around the table, without creating a barrier between the people who are using it and the food being served. The pieces suggest the importance of shifting one’s focus to slow down time at the table, to be present and to create community. Until now tableware has traditionally been in similar shapes and forms across most cultures. With the introduction of these experimental pieces they aim to awaken a part of the mind that has not yet been exercised.
